Notes relating our Works!

Ethics, art and architecture
within philosophical discourse. In architectural terms autonomy is seen to
involve the manipulation of spaces, while in philosophical terms it is seen as
necessary for assuming an ethical stance, and so partly constitutive of a moral
self. But the architectural sense of autonomy can be and often is related to the
philosophical.
For me art, architecture may have some sort of common ethics, and as a student of architecture we must understand the implications of the ethical norms to develop appropriate attitude.
Our whole workshop aimed at our improvement in our soul. It was a giving a preliminary idea about our learning process and made
Nature, the truthful designer
Nature is the ultimate designer. In fact, nature is the most skilled designer. All the designs of nature are very much adorable and functional too. It is the uniqueness that has made nature the ultimate designer. Nature is continuously engaged in the process of design. We can see even the great design in the very lower form of life. It is always making the new design and never makes the same design twice. We can see nature’s design is enormous form like fireworks in the sky or in the tiny form too. Everyplace we look at; we’ll find nature’s unique design with unbelievable functionality which is also very much complex. Nature’s diversity and sublime power of designing is can’t be comparison with anything in this world. There is a question that about the spirit of nature’s uniqueness in designing. I think this spirit is truth. Truth, the absence of false is always seen in nature’s creation. Nature never lies to us. It may create illusion, but it never lies. The most important thing of this ultimate designer is it leaves a question in its every work. For which we the human being try to figure out the answers, not every time successfully but always we search its spirit the truth. Nature is never artificial. It is always truthful. We are the human who created this word artificial and created false. The impact of this false is valueless, creating nothing but fruitless works. That’s why all the designers try to follow the ultimate designer.
Nature is followed by designers. All the creative works that the designers creates are from the inspiration of nature. They follow the nature because of its truthfulness, its uniqueness. But still there is a question, does designer need any false? It’s a question that can only be answered by the ultimate designer, nature. In all possible ways I think a designer must try to find this answer too.
Life in the lifeless
In the term of science protoplasm is considered as the form of life. There are many elements of our surrounding environment are considered to be lifeless in conventional terms of science. But all of them are consistently interacting with livings. Their life forces represents their life form for which we can find life in the lifeless. This was the intension of our work shop with sir Muntazar Monsur who gave us a pretty clear idea about this matter and also made us to search life in the lifeless.
We were asked to form a group and express our ideas about this topic. In our group discussion we found life in the lifeless form of color. Color is nothing but the physical properties of a component in terms of chemistry. But it is the language of artistic approach in every phase of our life. They always try to tell us something, as if they are a living person. For example, the red color always takes our attraction and sometimes takes the form of negative. Like red, green is also expressional as the color of nature and all the other colors too. They smile , makes us thinking of them, share our feelings etc. we saw its impact in our life, and our impacts too. Like color, our house, our instruments, natural forces all represents their life force in the form of lifeless in so called the terms of science. They consistently interacts with us. With our presence they react and also shows reactions with our absence. We can even say these things just watching those things. They just act as a individual life forms though they are called lifeless.
In a word we can say that life is a critical word to describe. In terms of explanation we may refer various words to explain it or various forms to symbolize it. It is really very tough for a person to give the perfect definition of life. For me life is something that is reformation of life forces interacting with others in a way that is reciprocal and that nothing else.
Learning Process and formation of personality
Most of the time my learning process began to form a boring process; for which I lost my attraction towards my study. This what happens with almost every students in our country. So for me learning process is very important for shaping ourselves. It builds our characters, motivates our formation of personality. Learning process is really a very effective method for building up own character.
Personality is the total sum of an individual's psycho-physical aspects. It depends on many things, such as our environment, our process of learning, our views and ideas etc. As it mostly depends on our environment, all of us have different personalities. Mostly some of us may have some common characteristics, but it still shows our individualities as a person. As I was brought up in a nuclear family, I faced panic in loneliness. I faced lot of difficulties in making friends and thus I grew up as an introvert. Moreover my parents had very conservative outlook which made me more recluse. My school and college made me much instructive only about my textbook. My family, my mates, my educational institutions shaped up my character. Now I am a student of university and this is helping me to explore myself. Thus personality is molding with these environments and learning processes.
Jun’ichiro Ishii
Ishii made a short visit of Bangladesh and he attended a seminar in our ALAP. There he showed his artistic approaches, his inspirations and three of his experimental works. He had expressed his extreme interest in observing local, cultural peculiarities. He showed his curious approaches towards these peculiarities and expressed them with symbolic form of arts. He didn’t show any formed methods. Based on the site-specific point of view we saw his great interest in local, cultural peculiarities. First of all he showed us his inspiring arts, and then he showed his experimental works. He tried to do something different, may be they were not much of use but they were the art that he wanted to do. Some special works were shown to us. First he made an a wooden platform shaping 8. He made it in two shapes. One was overlapping in the middle, and the other crossed. But these both installation work expressed infinity. His installation work had a uniqueness which described his views. Through his videos he expressed a quite different view of his work which was quite interesting and also at the same time managing us to realize his view of infinity. Through his hard work, his sustainable walking just gave us a clear vision of his thoughts. 3 steps in 3 hours with the clouds at the backgrounds moving with the same vision, journey to the infinity. I really enjoyed his videos and was amazed of his 12800%work style. He has his own vision, his style of expressing his works and also uninstalling his works. He was very conscious about his works, was very passionate too.
In his second video we saw his cultural inquisitiveness with Chai. He found a lot of peculiarities in Turkey. He found very interesting in the 8 Gods for birth in seven days. He also tried to figure out the reasons, history of their culture. After his unique first wooden platform, we again saw his symbolic form of art work which was nothing but chai. A cup of tea which is commonly seen in Turkey was expressional to the peace of the Turkeys. He hung 72 cups full of tea and expressed peace in realism with the reflection of lights on them. He also made a photographic exhibition there regarding this. It was quite tiring and also very careful work to place these works. About this peaceful realism, he found rickshaw and buses in our country in that symbolic form.
His last video was silkworm, he saw a car which was wasted and then after observing that he took the car to wrap it silk threads. His intension was to make it a part of the nature. Ishii is a very passionate man. We can’t say that his work is the combination of hardwork and his ideas, rather something expressional which reflects his satisfactions and many more things too. His ever smiling face, his presentations tell how worth his works are to him. A man like him always inspire us to be passionate, hardworking and above all must be satisfied with our works. He showed us if someone has a passion to create something, he can make it possible at any cost.
Ways of responding the environment
My Problems:
Like all other people I have some problems too. Such as,
1. I am a bit more talkative and my voice is loud, for which I always find myself in an irritating situation.
2. I am impatient.
3. I have lack of confidence
4. I am unconscious about my surroundings. So I face a lot of problems with my daily works.
5. I am very much sensitive. So I get upset even with my friends sometimes.
6. I trust someone very easily.
7. I cannot say no to anybody. So sometimes I fall in trouble.
8. I am not short tempered, but when I get angry I can hardly control myself.
My strengths:
I have some sort of advantages as well as characteristics which I can call my strength. They are:
1. I am very much friendly. So I can make friends easily.
2. I am always lively. I have a lot of energy to work.
3. I like to face challenge, that’s how I can explore my weakness and strengths too.
4. I am very much helpful towards my friends, my family. So they even support me when I need support.
5. I always try to think positive things. I can never think of causing any harm to anybody, or any negative things of a person.
Though I am a very much confused about myself, but I am pretty sure about my weakness and strengths. I know that I can’t run from my weakness, I have to face it or have to perish. If I have to face it would better to face it today. I can change my unconsciousness into my devotion towards my work. My lack of confidence always makes me feel worried. I can use my lack of confidence to gain perfection in my works. My sensitiveness makes me aware of my surrounding environment. Thus I think I can fight with my obstacles and make them my strengths in order to gain success in life. We all should try to explore ourselves so that we can deal with our weakness and achieve success in life.
The inspiring souls
There is no perfect soul that may really inspire us but rather the imperfection which are overcome by great personnel. As an apprentice I had a lot of problem to adopt the rules and systems of my learning processes. Several times all my effort became worthless just for this reason. I often lost my hope and optimism to really fight back against my odds. Sometimes I thought myself nothing but worthless. But then I really got my inspirations from the greatest people when I knew about their laggings, their struggle against those odd and their success in life. Not only the great people but I also got inspirations from my parents when I knew that they had also faced problems and overcame it. I had faced a lot of problems and recently I figured out in my university life that I lack workmanship. Besides I found that my line qualities are very poor. But then after the presentation of inspiring souls I really explored myself into a bigger proportion of sincerity and devotion. I got inspirations from the imperfect souls who really tired hard to overcome their obstacles and finally achieved their success in life. Their dedication and sincerity have always inspired me to fulfill my dreams. I have also learnt that whatever my obstacles are but we can overcome our odds with sincerity, devotion and hardworking and can fulfill our dreams. So we all should figure out our odds and try to overcome them with our inspirations, passion and devotion.
Human perceptions and interpretation
Our design sensitivity largely depends on our perception. It is the key factor that represents our insight about a subject. The sensibility of a designer enriches with the maturity of his perception. Through our workshop on human perception and interpretation, we were introduced to this new way of pretending a subject or obtaining our views from a different angle. Visual perception is the ability to interpret information from visible light reaching the eye. Perception is often represents visual perception but as a designer we must grow our perception in other ways too. We must learn how to deal with other perceptions such as smell, sound, tactile etc.
Human perception has distinctiveness as it varies form person to person. It even dominates our descriptive vocabulary. We may have our visual limitations in the field of observing comparing to other creatures, but we still have the domination in the field of observing other perception too. It is the point where a designer must mature his perceptions with the illusions too. It may offer us to raise a illusion but it gives us a the satisfaction in obtaining the sights. So even we can feel or make feel the invisible visible, the dimension into dimensions and above all there grows our sensitivity. Our perception also gains maturity with our selectivity and perceptual constancy as well as with our categorization which helps us to simplify our perception. But again there still is a question in uniqueness and particularity which remains unsustainable in the presence of this categorization. Though we do have the easiest way to perceive the sight or object but I prefer the non-categorization process as I think it serves my needs to mature my perception. In some aspects we may have the same perception such as in the field of illusions. Sometimes it gives us the chance of building up an impossible structure in realism but possible in our mind. I may have not understood everything about our perception but for me it represents the form of building up our sensitivity in a subject.
Refreshing the SOUL!
As the student of architecture, BUET, the studio workshop was a whole new process for us. The aim of our workshop was to get ourselves used to it, explore ourselves, grow ideal sensitivity, explore nature’s way of design, grow consciousness and response towards nature and environment, realize our workshop process and get used to this new form of learning. Though this workshop was quite difficult and tiresome for me, I enjoyed this whole workshop very much. I tried to participate, understand and response to the presentation as much as I could. We had presentation about Learning process and formation of personality, Ways of responding the environment, The inspiring souls, Perceptions and interpretation, life in the lifeless, Nature-the truthful designer and Ethics, art and architecture. Now I am writing my conceptions about these presentations.
